Throughout the years, the Pirate Club has achieved success in raising its annual fund because of its strong membership, filled with donors both eager and passionate to give back. Each one with a personal story and connection to ECU.
Â
The annual fund provides committed student-athletes from across the world with opportunities to come to East Carolina University and not only compete, but to receive an education through scholarships raised by the Pirate Club and its donors.
Â
The Pirate Club has multiple chapters working toward the common goal of growing the athletic program through membership recruitment and fundraising. Members include not only ECU alumni, but those within the community at large that have found a place in their heart for the university.
Â
Doug Groome, President of the Charlotte Pirate Club Chapter, and Henry Taylor, President of the Wake County Pirate Club Chapter, continue to support and give back to their fellow Pirates at East Carolina University
Â
The spirit of Pirate Nation continues to thrive as it spreads in areas all around the country due to the support of Pirate Club members. Each donation gives student-athletes the opportunity of a lifetime: to accomplish their dreams of playing a Division-I sport, while receiving a collegiate education. Two ECU alumni who continue to bleed purple and gold are Doug Groome, president of the Charlotte Pirate Club Chapter, and Henry Taylor, president of the Wake County Pirate Club Chapter.
Â
The Charlotte Pirate Club Chapter and the Wake County Pirate Club Chapter continue to go above and beyond by giving back to their alma mater. Student-athletes at the university remain appreciative of the constant support that is provided to them by Pirate Nation.
